These hardy flowers come in all colours but are rare to find. These specific ones in my painting I spotted on the sidewalk on my dash to get my bus! Inspiration strikes at any moment and you have to be ready for it. Painting them was so satisfying and allowed me to capture the structure of their leaves and the simplicity of their striking flower. I paint in a loose style generally so it I like to combine the essence of the flower within that style to view the flower in its most basic form, free of my own perceptions.
